Acquisition of Elektro-Brite in Trebur, Germany, a plating supplier focussing on zinc and
chromates. Merger of the groups and the product ranges of cleaning/pretreatment and electroplating under the umbrella brand SurTec. |

| 1988 | Foundation of the business unit OFT (Oberflächentechnik = surface technology) with the brand SurTec. Herbert Baunach becomes business unit manager OFT. | |
| 1975-87 | Acquisition of two smaller cleaning suppliers; development and introduction of a comprehensive cleaning and pre-treatment programme for the metal industry under Lever Industrie, the supplier of industrial cleaners within Unilever. | |
