SurTec 580
chromiPhos

Properties

SurTec 580 is a liquid, chromium(III)-containing passivation, which is used as a post treatment for phosphate layers. The passivation closes the pores and strengthens the phosphate layer. Herewith an excellent paint adhesion can be achieved, the corrosion protection is improved and the underfilm corrosion of the lacquer due to corrosion impact is impeded.

By using Cr(III) in the passivation solution, soluble phosphates, which are still on the phosphated surface, will be converted into hardly soluble chromium(III)-phosphates. The phosphate layer will be stabilized and shows better properties concerning the corrosion protection.

Due to the pH-ruled replenishment, an automatic dosage is possible.

  • liquid, trivalent chromium passivation as post-treatment for phosphatings before lacquer finishing
  • stabilises the phosphate layer by filling the pores
  • causes an excellent lacquer adhesion
  • improves the corrosion protection and prevents underfilm corrosion
  • is suited for immersion or spray application
  • can be used for the passivation of phosphatings made of Zn, Mn, Zn/Ca or tri-cationic phosphatings (e.g. SurTec 610, SurTec 615, SurTec 614, SurTec 617)
  • also suitable for the post-treatment of Fe phosphatings (e.g. SurTec 600, SurTec 601)
