Zwingenberg, 17.11.2020. The analytical laboratory of the surface specialist SurTec in Zwingenberg is the decisive interface between research & development and cooperation with customers. Equipped with the latest analysis technologies, SurTec's analytical laboratory is not only conducting the quality control of their own production, but is also carrying out analysis of bath samples, machined components and workpieces sent in by customers. In order to continue to provide an optimal technical service and to increase the capacities of the analytical department the laboratory has now been completely rebuilt and extended.
"The number of laboratory requests from applicators is constantly going up, and the growing production of chemicals is also leading to increasingly more quality controls", explains Dr. Corinna Weigelt, Head of Analytics and Quality Control at SurTec Deutschland GmbH. "This made a spatial extension of the laboratory necessary. In addition, the new laboratory space also gives us room for more analytical procedures".
In the SurTec analytics laboratory wet-chemical analysis methods such as volumetry and photometry are used as well as special methods of instrumental analysis (ICP-OES or HPLC). The analysis of customer components is carried out by using a 3D light microscope or scanning electron microscope, depending on the case. The production of cross sections is also part of the know-how of SurTec's analytical specialists.
As a result of the conversion, the wet-chemical and instrumental analysis laboratory areas have been spatially separated. In addition to a completely new laboratory equipment, the electrical cables were also newly laid. The conversion, during which ongoing operations could be maintained, was carried out in two sections, which have now been completed.
