Chrome-free is the industry standard for the pre-treatment of aluminum prior to powder coating in the architectural industry. Titanium- and zirconium-based systems have successfully replaced chrome(VI) in the majority of the world. But, compared to chrome(VI)-systems, chrome-free systems are invisible, they have much tighter operation windows and they are quickly moving towards borderline performance in respect to filiform corrosion and paint adhesion, especially in case of ageing or contamination of the bath.
SurTec 643 combines SurTec's extensive experience in the application of chrome-free technologies in regions such as France, the Middle East, and North Africa with the comprehensive technical expertise of our community to optimize specific characteristics of metal pre-treatment processes. The result is an innovative product based on the proven zirconium and polymer framework. By selecting a completely new polymer and the ideal zirconium components, a truly unique solution has been developed.
The coating is easy to manage via bath control and can be accurately measured in the coating process. Additionally, it demonstrates significantly improved resistance to filiform corrosion and outstanding paint adhesion, particularly in the presence of contamination and ageing effects. Furthermore, the uniformity of the coating weight along a profile, especially in vertical lines, has been successfully optimized.
To cut it short: SurTec 643 brings comfort and safety to aluminum coaters to run and control a chrome-free process.
